Our History
Nelson Lawnscapes officially launched in 2013, but the work ethic behind the company began long before then. Founder and CEO Sam Nelson started mowing lawns for his neighbors when he was only 9 years old. As he grew in both age and experience, he expanded into a few landscaping jobs and discovered his passion — creating beauty from nature. Since then, he has grown to become an expert at landscape design and installation, ponds and water features, irrigation, landscape lighting, snow removal, and lawn care maintenance. He graduated from Liberty University with a degree in business, but has continued his education by taking classes and professional seminars, having hands-on training, and maintaining long-lasting relationships with other landscaping professionals. He is continually seeking ways to improve and to satisfy each customer by creating the dream landscape.
Over the years, our team has grown from just Sam, to now being a team of 7 full-time employees and almost 30 seasonal employees.
Sam is a Professional Certified Aquascape Contractor in building, maintaining, and repairing ponds and water features.
Our Outreach

Rainwater Harvesting in Uganda
We are passionate about building relationships within the community, so we partner with local nurseries and landscape suppliers to provide our clients with the highest quality materials. However, our relationships extend beyond the borders of America. In January of 2020, Sam traveled to Uganda, Africa, with a team of Certified Acquascape Contractors to build a 32,000 gallon Rainwater Harvesting system for an orphanage and school. On that trip, he made the decision that Nelson Lawnscapes would endeavor to sponsor a new child each month, giving them the opportunity to make a better life for themselves in Uganda by attending school and having a consistent supply of food and clean water. We are privileged to take a percentage of each job in America and use it to help children in need on the other side of the world.
